What kind of test is it?
The UOL COVID-19 Test is a molecular test using a patented chemistry called Loop-de-Loop. Loop-de-Loop utilizes RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcriptase - Loop-mediated isothermal AMPlification).
What is this difference between this test and an antigen test?
Molecular tests have a much higher analytical sensitivity to detecting COVID. Simply put, molecular tests can detect COVID much earlier (1-3 days) than many rapid antigen tests. Some rapid tests may never catch an infectious individual.
How sensitive is the test?
The test can detect down to 400 copies/swab (overlapping high-complexity PCR tests).
How accurate is the test?
In a clinical trial, the UOL COVID-19 Test had an overall accuracy of 96.1%. The PPA/sensitivity was 87.7% and the NPA/specificity was 100%. However, excluding samples with very low levels of virus, the PPA was 97.9%, with an overall accuracy of 99.5%.
How fast is the test?
The test can detect COVID positive samples in as few as 12 minutes, however for negative samples the test will run for 40 minutes.
What is needed to run the test?
The test requires the instrument, a single-use test kit, and a mobile iOS device running the DxPro app.
Test Overview
DxPro App Questions
Where can I get the app?
Download Uh-Oh Labs Dx Pro from the Apple App Store to an Apple mobile device running operating system iOS 14 or higher. Wi-Fi or cellular data connectivity is required to download the app.
How do I create an account?
Open the DxPro app and follow the prompts to create a new user account.
How do I connect the app to the test?
Enable Bluetooth on your iOS device via your settings. In the app, go to the home screen and select “Start Test.” Follow the prompts to scan the test kit QR code, scan the instrument QR code, and enter patient info.
What if I can’t log in to the mobile app?
Creating an account only occurs once for first-time app users. If you experience login issues, reset your password, contact Technical Support at support@uhohlabs.com, or call 1-877-846-4522.
What do I do if the results are not updating?
If the mobile device is farther than 15 feet away from the instrument, Bluetooth connectivity could fail. The test will still run in the instrument, but you may not receive real-time test results in the app. Return the mobile device within 15 feet of the instrument to receive updated results and return to the result page in the app.
Instrument Questions
How do I set up the Instrument?
Set the instrument on a clean, flat surface away from direct sunlight. Connect to power. No further calibration is required. NOTE: Instrument must remain plugged in for the duration of the test. Keep out of direct sunlight.
How many instruments can connect to a single mobile device?
Currently, a maximum of 5 instruments can be connected to a single mobile device.
Can the instrument run on an external battery?
Yes, it just requires a USB-C connection for power, either with the power adapter or via an external battery.
What if the instrument isn’t working?
If the instrument’s LED light is not on, make sure the instrument is plugged into power. The instrument must be plugged into a power source at all times during use. Unplugging the instrument before results have been completed will cause a “Canceled” test result.
If the Instrument is flashing red after plugging it in, please check to ensure that no Assay Tubes are still inside the Instrument and that the lid is closed. Unplug the Instrument, remove the Assay Tube, close the lid, and then plug the Instrument back in. If it is still flashing red, please contact Technical Support at support@uhohlabs.com, or call 1-877-846-4522.
The instrument lid must stay closed while a test is running. A flashing yellow light on the instrument alerts the user that the lid is open during the test.
Keep out of direct sunlight. Sunlight can increase the temperature of the instrument beyond the recommended operating range.
Test Kit Questions
How long does the test take to set up?
The test takes approximately 3-5 minutes to collect a sample and start a test via the mobile app.
What if I’m missing a Test Kit component, or a component is damaged?
Please contact Technical Support at support@uhohlabs.com, or call 1-877-846-4522. We will send you a replacement Test Kit free of charge.
What if I get an “Invalid” result?
See Troubleshooting on page 24 before repeating the test. To avoid an Invalid test, avoid collecting excess nasal mucus when collecting the swab, avoid over-collecting sample. If you receive an Invalid result, please reach out to our team to receive a free replacement Test Kit at kits@uhohlabs.com
